Two photos from Aberdeen weddings. One shows a long-haired man and a woman in shades and floral strapless dress smiling at each other, against a cloudy sky in Old Aberdeen. The other shows two dark-haired women in white wedding dresses beaming at each other outside the Marcliffe Hotel as red and white confetti showers around them.

Hi, I'm Sarah, and I'm here to help.
Aberdeen wedding photographer, Sarah from Windswept Stories, taking a selfie in a mirror. She has short curly hair and wears a pastel stripy T-shirt. Overlaid is the text "This is me".
I'm a reformed cynic who fell in love with photography.
I work with couples who know which traditions they treasure and which they should kick to the kerb.
I work with couples who squirm at being the centre of attention but always show up as themselves.
I work with couples who love a splash of colour, a dash of nostalgia and photos which look like a film poster.
I work with couples... like you.
Quirky Aberdeen Wedding Photographer: A groom in blue kilt and bride in floral dress and embroidered Converse laugh as they play on the swings in Hazlehead Park during their wedding reception.
Duthie Park Wedding Photographer: A bride in white dress and shawl and groom in kilt are shown reflected in a pond as they lean in to kiss. Bare winter trees and a clear sky show behind them.

Micro weddings and short coverage weddings (I have a whole page about short coverage weddings here)
Midweek weddings and last minute weddings
Alternative weddings and twilight weddings
And, it should go without saying, but I'm going to shout it LOUD just in case: LGBTQIA+ weddings
I'm based in Aberdeen, and work across all the main towns and cities in Scotland.
Lesbian Wedding Scotland: Two brides in white dresses, both brunette and wearing glasses, hold bouquets of red roses and sit in front of a roaring fire surrounded by Christmas lights and baubles in Aberdeen's Marcliffe Hotel.
A bride in a floral dress and three bridesmaids in different pastel pink dresses laugh together, all holding colourful bouquets, in the Hazlehead Park rose garden.

My Approach to Wedding Photography
I work with a lot of quiet and introverted couples and, as a naturally quiet and introverted person myself (I hide it well), believe me: I am a whizz at sneaking around and going unnoticed; for the most part, I want you to forget that I'm there so you can focus on each other.
This makes me the queen of candid shots so you can expect a gallery full of natural smiles, head-thrown-back laughter and spontaneous hugs. When it comes to formal photos (think: groups and couple shots), I aim to make these as fast, as fun and as informal as possible.
You know what? This is starting to sound like a job application - and I do have "a keen eye for detail" - so instead of me throwing around more photography buzzwords (FWIW, my work is "documentary style" and "cinematic") why don't I just show you some photos instead?
Would You Like to See A Full Wedding Day?
Review of Aberdeen Wedding Photographer, Windswept Stories: Sarah did the photographs of our wedding day and we are really happy with everything - from enquiry response to the photographs we have received. We are living in a different country and had a lovely, relaxed video call with Sarah who put us at ease immediately. She was very knowledgeable and kind. Our families have mentioned what a lovely presence she was on the day and we have so many lovely, natural photos to look back on. If you're looking for relaxed/storytelling photos then Sarah is who you're looking for
Review of Aberdeen Wedding Photographer, Sarah from Windswept Stories: We can't thank you enough for the photos! They are gorgeous! Obsessed with them! You've captured so many special happy moments throughout the day. We absolutely love every single one! All our family and friends have been singing your praise and all agree the photos are stunning. Im so glad we worked with you for our wedding! You were so relaxed and matched the exact vibe we wanted for the day and the photos reflect that. You're such a lovely person and it was a joy to have you with us. You snapped all day and we have such gorgeous memories to print and keep forever! We never felt pressured and you kept everything so relaxed. Thank you so much for everything!
So, How Does This Work?
As simply as possible! Here are the steps to booking your wedding photography with me:

1. We Chat
You're considering spending a lot of your special day with me so let's check that you like me!
Zooms are a great chance for me to answer any questions that you may have and for you to tell me more about your plans, but, if you're not Zoom people, emails and WhatsApps work, too!

2. You Book
After our chat, I'll send you a quote, a contract and a short booking in form. Weddings booked more than six weeks in advance are secured with a 25% deposit (with the remainder due one month before the wedding); weddings booked at short notice are secured upon full payment.

3. I'm here whenever you need you me
At an absolute minimum, I will contact you two months before the wedding to confirm all of the final details, including any group shots you need and/or special requests you have for the day. However, I LOVE to hear about your plans and peek at your Pinterest boards, and I am ALWAYS here to answer questions. You will have my email address, phone number and social media handles, and you can contact me any time.
Two brown hands, both wearing wedding rings, are shown, loosely clasped. The woman's hand has mehndi and she wears a lot of colourful bracelets.
A dark haired bride in cream dress looks back at her long-haired husband as he hugs her from behind. The background is greenery, with sun flare dappling the scene.
that all sounds good, but what does it cost?
Start here with my most popular options:

Ceremony to Celebrations (two photographers): £2000
From your ceremony right through the first hour of your evening celebrations, this package covers all the main moments of a (fairly!) standard Scottish wedding.
Your vows, your speeches, your reception, your dancing - they're all included so you won't forget a thing.
Even better: this package includes a second photographer so even more moments can be remembered, even more smiles can be seen, and both of your reactions can be recorded.
And, as if that's not enough, it includes an optional pre-wedding photo session within Aberdeen City, too.

Ceremony to Celebrations (just me): £1600
You guys, you've decided I'm all you need (I'm crying).
This package gives you wedding photography from your ceremony right through the first hour of your evening do and, yes, you get that optional pre-wedding photo session, too.
A solo photographer (that's me) can be a good option if you have a smaller guest list (but I'm going to need a really big slice of that cake!).
You Want More? You've Got More!
Text reads: Going Extra
Additional Hours:
£250 per hour for just me
£150 per hour for a second photographer
Just can't get enough? I can arrive earlier; I can stay later. If your plans won't fit into a standard sized box, extra hours can be added as needed.
If you would like prep photos, if you would like your late night shenanigans captured, if you would like your final unmarried morning stroll along the beach recorded, I can be there to do that.
Unsure whether you you should add extra hours and/or include a second photographer? I'm not going to pressure you into anything you don't need, but I will happily talk your plans through with you and give you my honest advice about what might work best for your day.

Wedding Photography By The Hour
If you're only needing a few hours of wedding photography, my packages start at one hour for weekday Aberdeen City weddings, and two hours for weekends and further afield. Please do click through to find out more.
A barefoot, curly haired woman in a teal dress holds a glass of red wine as she ceilidh dances with a man in a kilt.
A black and white photo: A newlywed couple lean in for a kiss in front of a stained glass window; they are largely silhouetted with highlights around their faces.
Do You Need a second photographer?
Do you need a second photographer? They're an optional extra, but, if your photos are important to you, it can be a great investment. Second photographers allow me to focus on you and your I Do Crew, safe in the knowledge that somebody else is dotting around your guests, getting all those gorgeous candids. The more guests you have, the more important a second photographer will be.
If you're getting ready for the wedding at different locations and would like prep photos of both of you, a second photographer is essential.
All of the second photographers I work with are wedding professionals who take on these jobs between their own bookings (and I do the same for them - in fact, the pink-tinted ceilidh dancing just above this was taken whilst seconding for Tower Photography) - this means that you are getting a whole load of additional high quality photos of your day for a fraction of the cost of booking us separately.
Why Might We Want a Pre-Wedding Photo Session?
For couples who feel uncomfortable in front of the camera, a pre-wedding session can be an invaluable way of putting you at ease before your wedding day. They're also a great chance for us to get to know each other a bit better so that, by the time I turn up to photograph your wedding day, we already feel like old friends. AND they give you gorgeous photos to pop in with your invitations.
Let's See Some Pre-Wedding Photo Shoots!

Wedding Photography FAQs
can we have multiple locations?
Yes, you can. Prep, ceremony, reception - these may all be in different places. If you would like to sneak away somewhere special for couple photos, we can do that, too.
I very consciously don't run a car, but I will either travel between venues with you or your guests or I'll hop in a taxi. We can talk about this as part of your planning process.
How Will We Receive Our Photos?
Your photos will be delivered digitally via a secure online gallery which you are welcome to share with your loved ones. Your gallery is live for one year, giving you ample time to download all of your images. Professional quality printing is available via this gallery, however this is optional, and you may print your downloaded images elsewhere, if you prefer.
When Do We Pay You?
For weddings booked more than six weeks in advance, you pay a 25% deposit to secure your date and the remaining balance one month before the wedding. For weddings booked with under six weeks' notice, the full payment is required upfront.
Are there any hidden costs?
Nope, it's all right here on the screen.
Are you inclusive?
I'm certainly trying my best to be! I'm right here scribbling in Sharpie over the top of all this bi-erasure I receive, so I'm HERE for LGBTQIA+ couples. I'm also here to support and celebrate with neurospicy folk, disabled people and anyone from marginalised groups. If you don't yet see yourselves represented on my website, please know that it's not because I don't want you there - it's simply that, either, I haven't had the opportunity to take those photos, or the couples I have worked with have chosen to keep their pictures private. Everyone is celebrated here.
Send Your Message
Hooray! Your message is on its way to me and I'll be back in touch ASAP (same day where possible; next day if I'm busy at a wedding!).
Not a fan of contact forms? You can also email me at sarah@windsweptstories.com.
