A Floral Summer Aberdeen Wedding
With a ceremony at Marischal College and a reception at The Park Cafe in Hazlehead, there was so much to love about this wedding. The dress, the locations, the details (just wait until you see the details!) but, mostly, the sheer giddy silliness of a whole load of people who love each other having an awful lot of fun.

An Intimate Marischal College Wedding Ceremony
Catherine and Dale got married at Marischal College in the middle of a July heatwave.
The couple had asked the registrar to keep their ceremony as simple as possible - and, in fact, the whole thing only took about five minutes, but it was no less beautiful for being brief.

While there were fewer than twenty guests at the wedding ceremony, their wider friends and family were waiting outside Marischal College to greet the newlyweds afterwards.

Then, while their guests headed to All Bar One for a drink, Catherine and Dale opted to take a couple of hours just for themselves. This is such a great thing to plan, if you know you're likely to feel overwhelmed by the attention and/or emotions of the day.
A little while later, we all met at The Park Cafe in Hazlehead Park for the wedding reception.

Wedding Photos in Hazlehead Park Rose Gardens
Catherine and Dale wanted a floral theme for their wedding, so we headed to the rose gardens for group and couple photos. If I could photograph the scent of the roses, I would have done...!

Hazlehead Park Wedding Reception
It was a hot day to be wearing a kilt, so we whizzed through the formal photos and headed back to the shade of the reception.
Most of the details at the reception were prepared by Dale's mum, who runs Bear in the Woods (and she was brilliant fun on the wedding day!). However, the decorations on the couple's chairs are family heirlooms from Catherine's side, and, as Catherine is a primary school teacher, there were adorable table decorations made by some of her pupils (LOOK at these!).

This was pointed out to me as "the teachers' table" where the adults were taking the children's activity booklets very seriously. I promised I would show my own kids this particularly beautiful version of Catherine's dress (they were very impressed):

Confetti at Hazlehead Park
Catherine and Dale wanted confetti photos at Hazlehead so, when the weather had cooled down a bit, we nipped outside and did these before dinner.

Time for Speeches
Catherine's sister and Dale's brother both gave lovely speeches before the dinner. I was off duty and seated with some of Catherine's friends during the meal, and can confirm they are all as wonderful as they look!

Evening Reception at The Park Cafe in Hazlehead

As the evening guests started to arrive, it was time for a buffet and sweetie station. There were also plenty of glow sticks and temporary tattoos to keep everyone busy!
But wait... do you know what happens when tipsy adults realise it's twilight and the kids have all left the playpark...?
That's right: magic.
