aberdeen wedding photographer
for micro weddings and elopements
Oh, hey! Here you are! You're planning a small but beautiful Aberdeen wedding and you're looking for a photographer who gets it.
HELLO, nice to meet you!
I'm Sarah, and I had a tiny wedding, too!
My husband and I got married in our local park with just our children and four guests present; the kids jumped in muddy puddles, we ate doughnuts instead of cake and, after the ceremony, we headed home and had fish and chips for dinner. On our anniversary ever year, we do the same again.
It would not be the wedding for everyone, but it was the perfect wedding for us.
You're here because you're planning the perfect wedding for the two of you, and it's always, always a privilege for me to play a part in your day.
(Wait - is this all sounding a bit smaller scale than you were thinking? Whoops! You've found yourself on my micro-wedding photography page. Never fear! You can find out all about my full size wedding photography packages over here)
Your wedding may be small, but your photography can still be stunning
I am a firm believer that even the tiniest weddings deserve beautiful pictures.
You can turn up at the registry office in jeans and T-shirts, with two witnesses you've grabbed off the street, claiming not to be "wedding people", and I STILL think there should be a few good photos recording those moments.
This is your story - we should tell it well.

My Approach to Wedding Photography
I work with a lot of shy and self-conscious couples and, as a naturally shy and self-conscious person myself, believe me: I am a whizz at being quiet and going unnoticed; for the most part, I want you to forget that I'm there so you can focus on each other.
That means sneakily, unobtrusively taking photos throughout your ceremony - your faces; your rings, if you're exchanging them; your first kiss, if you have one; the details that you've chosen to make your wedding yours
If you have guests, that means getting candid shots of your loved ones settling into the room, listening to your vows and celebrating with you afterwards (and, yes, we can do some group shots, too!).
And it means, whether you would like your couple photos (please let me gently encourage you to get couple photos) to be relaxed, intimate and done slowly at somewhere special to you, or taken as fast as possible so you don't have to think about them again, I will do what's right for you.
My aim is always to bring the calm when you need it, the fun when you want it and the eye for beautiful photographs so you can always remember the details of your wedding day.

So, how does this work?
As simply as possible! Here are the steps to booking your short coverage wedding photography with me:
1. we Chat
Hopefully this page has answered most of your questions, and, for a lot of couples, they're happy to skip straight to booking. But, if you have anything you would like to ask me or if you would just like to put a face to my name and check we get along, we can set up a video call or chat via email, whichever you prefer.
2. you Book
Once you're happy to go ahead, I'll send you an invoice, a contract and a short booking in form. Weddings booked more than six weeks in advance are secured with a 25% deposit (with the remainder due one month before the wedding); weddings booked at short notice are secured upon full payment.
and then...
At an absolute minimum, I will contact you one month before the wedding to confirm all of the final details, including any group shots you need and/or special requests you have for the day. However, I LOVE to hear about your plans and I am ALWAYS here to answer questions, so rest assured you can contact me any time.
Let's see some Aberdeen micro-weddings!
But... How Much Does Wedding Photography Cost?
up to two hours: £395
My wedding photography starts at £395 for up to two hours.
Flat rate 2-4 hour packages are available for weddings within Aberdeen City, Dundee and the main Aberdeenshire towns only.
If you love me and want me to travel to a further flung micro-wedding or elopement, I will happily do that, but overnight travel charges will apply - contact me to discuss.
additional hours: £180 per hour
Let me do that maths for you:
Three hours: £575
Four hours: £755

Or, if your day is filling up with fun, my half day and full day packages start at £900.
Midweek Wedding Special
For those having a super simple midweek wedding within Aberdeen City, I offer a straightforward one hour package which covers your ceremony and a handful of group and/or couple shots. This is available Monday-Thursday and is priced at £250. Very, very occasionally, I'll have a Friday or Saturday slot available for a last minute booking - it's always worth asking
do we need extra hours of wedding photography?
Couples usually add on extra hours because: they've chosen a particularly beautiful or significant reception venue and would like some professional photos at it; they are doing something meaningful right before or right after their ceremony which they want a record of; they have additional guests joining them for their reception and want to be sure they get a photo of everyone.
That said, the majority of my midweek bookings are for either one hour at Marischal College or two hours at Duthie Park, and I will never pressure you to add on time you don't need. If you're undecided, I'm happy to chat through your plans with you and offer advice about what would work well.
You May Also add in a pre-wedding session
Priced at £200 for up to one hour, pre-wedding sessions (also known as "engagement shoots") are relaxed couple's photo shoots which take place in Aberdeen.
For couples who feel awkward in front of the camera, a pre-wedding session can be an invaluable way of putting you at ease before your wedding day. They're also a great chance for us to get to know each other a bit better AND they give you gorgeous photos to pop in with invitations.
Pre-wedding sessions are available on school days and Sundays. Additional dates may be available by arrangement - I'll always try to squeeze you in!

FAQs About Short Coverage Aberdeen Wedding Photography
Can We Go Elsewhere for Our Couple Photos?
Yes! We can walk, catch a bus, hop in a taxi or jump in your car and do whatever you like with the available time. Recent ideas have included ice cream from Mackie's, a visit to Old Aberdeen, a trip to the beach and - for a couple getting married at the registry office in Stonehaven - a quick jaunt up to Dunnottar Castle (it was cold, but it was worth it!). I would love to hear your ideas!
Do we have to do the ceremony first?
Absolutely not. Because a lot of my couples get ready for their wedding together, it's not unusual for us to do couple photos before the ceremony. You may also want prep photos or pictures of a specific activity you're doing with your loved ones before heading to your wedding. You book me for a certain number of hours and, as long as everything fits into the allocated time, it's entirely up to you what order your activities happen in.
How Will We Receive Our Photos?
Your photos will be delivered digitally via a secure online gallery which you are welcome to share with your loved ones. Your gallery is live for one year, giving you ample time to download all of your images. Professional quality printing is available via this gallery, however this is optional, and you may print your downloaded images elsewhere, if you prefer.
When Do We Pay You?
For weddings booked more than six weeks in advance, you pay a 25% deposit to secure your date and the remaining balance one month before the wedding. For weddings booked with under six weeks' notice, the full payment is required upfront.
Are there any hidden costs?
Nope, it's all right here on the screen.
Are you inclusive?
I'm certainly trying my best to be! I'm right here scribbling in Sharpie over the top of all this bi-erasure I receive, so I'm HERE for LGBTQIA+ couples. I'm also here to support and celebrate with neurospicy folk, disabled people and anyone from marginalised groups. If you don't yet see yourselves represented on my website, please know that it's not because I don't want you there - it's simply that, either, I haven't had the opportunity to take those photos, or the couples I have worked with have chosen to keep their pictures private. Everyone is celebrated here.
