aberdeen wedding photography for the most important moments
Oh, hey! Here you are! You're planning a small but beautiful Aberdeen wedding and you're looking for a photographer who gets it.
HELLO, nice to meet you!
I'm Sarah, and I had a tiny wedding!
My husband and I got married in our local park with just our children and four guests present; the kids jumped in muddy puddles, we ate doughnuts instead of cake and, after the ceremony, we headed home and had fish and chips for dinner. On our anniversary ever year, we do the same again.
It would not be the wedding for everyone, but it was the perfect wedding for us.
You're here because you're planning the perfect wedding for the two of you, and it's always, always a pleasure for me to be invited to play a part in your day.
Tell us more about your approach to wedding photography!
I believe your wedding should be true to who you both really are, be that a wild party with all your nearest and dearest or a calm, quiet elopement with two witnesses grabbed off the street.
And I believe your wedding photography should be true to your day.
While I will absolutely take group shots (how often do you have all those people gathered together?) and I love, love, love sneaking off for some gorgeous couple portraits (they're the first ones you'll print and frame), I prioritise taking candid photos of the real moments taking place in front of me.
Those smiles? Real.
Those laughs? Real.
Those tears being wiped from your eyes? As salty as they come.
I work unobtrusively to deliver real life memories in true-to-life colours. And I'll even celebrate whatever weather Scotland throws your way, if you're happy to go outside!
what do the winter gardens look like at different times of year?
So, how does this work?
As simply as possible! Here are the three steps to booking your short coverage wedding photography with me:
1. Enquire
Send me a message with the basic details. If you have confirmed your wedding date, time and venue(s), let me know and I can check whether I'm available. If you're checking MY availability before you book your wedding (always a massive buzz - love you for it), let me know the venue and your preferred month and I'll get back to you ASAP.
2. Chat
If the dates work for you and for me, we can have a chat and I'll answer any questions you might have. Chats can be over zoom or via email, whichever you prefer (if you don't have a preference, let's zoom - as awkward as the whole video call thing is, it's lovely to put faces to your names).
3. Book
I'll send you an invoice, the contract and a short booking in form. Your booking is secured once the deposit is paid and your booking form completed.
Would you like to see some short coverage weddings? I've got you!
How Much Does It Cost?
Short coverage wedding photography costs £395 for up to two hours.
Additional time can be added on at £180 per hour.
Let me do that maths for you:
Two hours: £395
Three hours: £575
Four hours: £755
Or, if your day is filling up with fun, my half day and full day packages start at £900.
Short coverage weddings are available in Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire towns only.
I mean, if you REALLY love me, I'll explore most of the cities in Scotland for you, but travel charges will apply.
but we really just need an hour...
For those having a super simple Marischal College registrar office wedding, I offer a quick and easy one hour package which covers your ceremony and a handful of group and/or couple shots. This is priced at £250 (and there's no pressure to upgrade).
Why might we add on extra hours?
Couples usually add on extra hours because: they've chosen a particularly beautiful or significant reception venue and would like some professional photos at it; they are doing something meaningful right after their ceremony which they want a record of; they have additional guests joining them for their reception and want to be sure they get a photo of everyone.
That said, the majority of my short coverage bookings are just for the two hours and I will never pressure you to add on time you don't need. If you're undecided, I'm happy to chat through your plans with you and offer advice about what may be best for you.
You May Also add in a pre-wedding session
Priced at £150 for up to one hour, pre-wedding sessions (also known as "engagement shoots") are relaxed couple's photo shoots which take place in Aberdeen.
For couples who feel awkward in front of the camera, a pre-wedding session can be an invaluable way of putting you at ease before your wedding day. They're also a great chance for us to get to know each other a bit better AND they give you gorgeous photos to pop in with invitations.
Pre-wedding sessions are available on school days and Sundays. Additional dates may be available by arrangement - I'll always try to squeeze you in!

FAQs About Short Coverage Aberdeen Wedding Photography
Can We Go Elsewhere for Our Couple Photos?
Yes! I love going on post-wedding adventures with newlywed couples! We can walk, catch a bus, hop in a taxi or jump in your car and do whatever you like with the available time. Recent ideas have included ice cream from Mackie's, a visit to Aberdeen University, a trip to the beach and - for a couple getting married at the registry office in Stonehaven - a quick jaunt up to Dunnottar Castle (it was cold, but it was worth it!). I would love to hear your ideas!
How Many Photos Will We Receive?
This is a bit of a "how long is a bit of string?" question as the answer varies greatly depending on number of guests, length of ceremony, whether or not any personal touches have been added and what you choose to do for group and/or couple shots afterwards. But (having just double checked all of last year's micro-weddings!) the simplest weddings receive around 100 finished, edited photos.
How Will We Receive Our Photos?
Your photos will be delivered digitally via a secure online gallery which you are welcome to share with your loved ones. Your gallery is live for one year, giving you ample time to download all of your images. Professional quality printing is available via this gallery, however this is optional, and you may print your downloaded images elsewhere, if you prefer.
When Do We Pay You?
For weddings booked more than six weeks in advance, you pay a 25% deposit to secure your date and the remaining balance one month before the wedding. For weddings booked with under six weeks' notice, the full payment is required upfront.
Are there any hidden costs?
Nope, it's all right here on the screen.
Are you lgbtqia+ friendly?
Always. I'm right here scribbling in Sharpie over the top of all this bi-erasure I receive. I'm on your team, on your wedding day and beyond.
